Take part in a charity hike or ultra walk

Hiking events are a brilliant way to challenge yourself and achieve something you are proud of. We have a range of trails, from gentle half-day walks to epic ultra walks.

What to expect

Our hiking and ultra walk events are fully organised and supported, so you can focus on the walking and the fundraising. Each event offers a choice of distances, ranging from 8 km to 100 miles, so you can pick a challenge that suits your fitness level. Events take place across some of the UK’s most scenic landscapes, with well-marked routes, rest stops, and experienced event staff on hand throughout.

Registration fees vary by event and distance, and there is no set fundraising minimum, just raise as much as you can for Changing Faces.

What is an ultra walk?

Ultra walks are long distance walking challenges, typically between 25 km and 100 km and set across stunning UK landscapes. They are designed for people of all fitness levels, not just experienced hikers. You can walk or run at your own pace, with full event support, rest stops, food and drink, and a warm community atmosphere every step of the way.

This year we are proud to be able to offer places in one of the UK’s most popular ultra walks, The peak District Challenge. Taking place between 18th and 19th September, the Peak District Challenge is an epic multi-distance event, set across the stunning moorland and valleys of the Peak District. Whether you’re looking for an achievable first challenge or something truly formidable, there are five distances to choose from: the Copper (25 km), Bronze (50 km), Silver (75 km), Gold (100 km) and the ultimate 100 miles in 24 hours. All entries include a hot meal, goody bag, GPS tracker and full safety support, and 100% of any sponsorship you raise goes directly to Changing Faces. Full event details can be found here.

The difference you can make

There are currently an estimated 1.3m children and adults living with a visible difference in the UK and they face multiple challenges. They are vulnerable to isolation, loneliness, social anxiety and low self-esteem. They face staring, harassment, bullying and hate crime.

Many people with a visible difference face multiple levels of discrimination every day and our survey showed that shockingly, 50% said they felt self-conscious or embarrassed about their visible difference and 49% had experienced hostile behaviour. Read more about the impact on people’s lives.

We’re here to support people affected by visible difference to live the life they choose and free from discrimination. We know it’s possible. The money you raise can make this possible by providing the confidence, support and the opportunity to thousands of people with a visible difference.
