There are currently an estimated 1.3m children and adults living with a visible difference in the UK and they face multiple challenges. They are vulnerable to isolation, loneliness, social anxiety and low self-esteem. They face staring, harassment, bullying and hate crime.
Many people with a visible difference face multiple levels of discrimination every day and our survey showed that shockingly, 50% said they felt self-conscious or embarrassed about their visible difference and 49% had experienced hostile behaviour. Read more about the impact on people’s lives.
We’re here to support people affected by visible difference to live the life they choose and free from discrimination. We know it’s possible. The money you raise can make this possible by providing the confidence, support and the opportunity to thousands of people with a visible difference.
