Virtual fundraising ideas

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak is affecting all our lives in lots of different ways. If your fundraising plans have been postponed or cancelled, we’ve put together a selection of ideas for virtual fundraising that you can do from home instead.

There’s lot of creative ways to support Changing Faces’ work while isolating at home, so we’d love to hear your plans. Tell us all about your virtual fundraising ideas.

Movie night

You can use Netflix Party or Google Hangouts to host movies or TV show nights with your friends and family online. Once you’ve decided on what you’re going watch, just ask for a contribution to take part. Why not watch the film ‘Wonder’ and use our resource pack to discuss the film?

Skills swop

Lead an online yoga class, show friends and family how to cook your favourite recipe or teach your favourite dance routine – even volunteer your storytelling skills for bedtime stories on Facebook Live or Instagram Live!

Set up a JustGiving page and ask for a donation from those who attend.

Hold a gaming tournament

Get your family, friends, or office involved in a gaming competition with prizes for the top gamer. Set up a JustGiving page and ask guests to donate to take part.

Virtual quiz

Use Kahoot, Skype, FaceTime or Google Hangouts to hold a virtual quiz! Set up a JustGiving page and ask your guests to donate to take part.

Letter writing fundraiser

Start a fundraiser online or on social media and pledge to send everyone who donates a letter or post card to thank them for their donation.

Keepy Uppy Challenge

Missing your 5 a-side team? How about a sponsored keepy-uppy challenge? Make it interesting and stream it over the internet on your club’s Instagram or Facebook Page. Do you have a rival team? Why not make it into a grudge match?

Virtual book club

Take your book club online and donate the money that you would have spent on drinks and snacks to Changing Faces.

Karaoke night

Sing your heart out in the comfort of your own home! Check out lucky voice karaoke or Singa.

IsOlympics

Hold your own IsOlympics with challenges that can be done safely in the home! Get your friends and family to have a sweepstake on who will win and stream via online platforms. Come up with your own challenges or try these ideas:

  • Who can hold a plank for the longest
  • Bounce a tennis ball on a racket – who can do the most in three minutes
  • Who can balance on one leg for the longest?
  • Most triceps dips off a chair in a minute

The winner wins one half of the sweepstake, and you can donate the rest to Changing Faces.

Isolation beard challenge

Grow your beard to new lengths while in isolation and ask friends and family to sponsor you for your follic-tastic efforts!

Donate your commute
If you’re currently working from home, why not consider donating the price of your commute or daily coffee or lunch to help us support more people with visible differences? Every penny helps.

Online Shopping

If you’re using online stores for your shopping, you can raise money for Changing Faces when using Amazon Smile or Easy Fundraising.
