Gifts in wills

Gifts in Wills create a lasting legacy, reflecting your values and commitment to inclusivity for those with visible differences.

What is a gift in a Will?

A gift in a Will is a way to donate money, belongings or a percentage of your estate to an organisation or person after you pass away. It is done through a Will and is sometimes called a legacy donation.

Why leave a gift in a will to Changing Faces?

When you leave a gift in your Will to Changing Faces, your generosity will ensure a fairer and more accepting future of tomorrow. A society whereby it is ok to look different. A society where anyone, regardless of how they look, can achieve their full potential.

In the last 30 years, we have achieved so much. From successfully campaigning for severe disfigurement to be included in the 2010 Equality Act to providing life-changing mental health services to over 2,500 people every year. But there is still so much to do. Gifts in Wills help us to be here today, and for anyone who needs us in the future.

Did you know that you can leave 1% of your Will to Changing Faces meaning that those closest to you receive 99%. Every gift in every Will, however large or small, makes a difference to our work.

We are so grateful you are considering joining the kind supporters who choose to remember Changing Faces in their Will.

Susan’s story

“I’ve witnessed firsthand the extraordinary impact Changing Faces has on people’s lives, and leaving a gift in my Will felt like a natural way to continue supporting a cause so close to my heart. While I hope it will be many years before my gift is received, it’s reassuring to know that I’ll be championing their vital work for those with a visible difference well into the future.

By leaving a legacy gift, I know my support will continue to make a meaningful difference, helping to create a more inclusive and accepting society for generations to come.”

Frequently asked questions

Making a Will ensures that after you pass away, your estate can go to the people and causes you care about. It is important to continually update your Will so it reflects what matters to you.

We recommend that you use a solicitor or professional Will writer to ensure you receive professional advice and your wishes are respected. They will hold a copy of the Will for safekeeping, and having a recognised Will can also reduce the likelihood of your wishes being challenged after you pass away.

A simple Will usually costs at least £90, although this can increase depending on the complexities of your Will.

When a gift is specified for a specific purpose, we are bound to use the funds exactly as specified. This can sometimes present a challenge when the work you wish your funds to go towards has finished. To prevent these issues, we suggest you state your preferences as a non-binding wish and keep them broad rather than detailed. For example: "I wish for my gift to support Changing Faces work with young people, without creating any legally binding obligation." Changing Faces will always try to honour your wishes. If we are unable to do so, we will use the gift in a manner that closely aligns with the original intent. This ensures your gift can be promptly utilised to support those with a visible difference.

We are unable to help you write your Will, however if you speak to a solicitor or professional Will writer they will be able to help you.

Changing Faces does not currently offer an Executor service.
