Skin camouflage is an easy-to-apply, long-lasting, waterproof, and highly pigmented cream and powder that can be applied over scars and non-infectious skin conditions to help them blend into the normal skin colour.

People in England and Scotland with a mark, scar or skin condition can seek advice to help minimise or reduce the appearance of their visible difference from our specialist Skin Camouflage Service. Appointments are free and the service is delivered by practitioners who complete a Royal College of Nursing-accredited training programme. It enables your patients to try skin camouflage, which can be an effective tool for managing their visible difference.

I really appreciate the kindness and warmth of care that I received here. I didn’t feel at all rushed and left feeling happy with the results and like all my questions had been answered. Thank you!
Our Skin Camouflage Service has reopened following an extended closure due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. As such, we are dealing with a significant waiting list in some parts of England. Waiting times are shorter in Scotland. However, we still encourage you to refer any patients whom you feel could benefit from a Skin Camouflage Service appointment. We will contact them to arrange an appointment as soon as we have availability.
We’ve also developed a series of video tutorials to help people apply skin camouflage cream or makeup at home and have a page explaining other options for skin camouflage. Please feel free to share these resources with your patients whilst they wait for an appointment.
If you have any questions about the service or want to discuss your referral in more detail, please get in touch with the skin camouflage team by emailing [email protected] or calling 0300 012 0276.

We know that in Scotland, electronic referrals aren’t always possible. In this case, please download a referral form (Word 226KB) and send it to us at: Suite 5a, Citibase, 1 St. Colme Street, Edinburgh, EH3 6AA.
