Becky Hewitt, Chief Executive, Changing Faces: “After a lot of careful consideration and discussions with my Board, I have decided it will be time for me to step down as CEO of Changing Faces in Spring next year.
“This has been such a tough decision to make. I have loved my three-and-a-half years at Changing Faces. We serve the most amazing community and I am lucky to work with such a passionate, dedicated, kind and talented team.
“Like so many organisations, Coronavirus has caused us to think very hard about the structure Changing Faces needs as we look to the future, including the leadership skills we need to prioritise. I feel that for the next stage of our strategic development Changing Faces would benefit from a new CEO with more specialist health experience. Despite the challenges of 2020, we are very fortunate to be in a relatively secure financial position as we begin work on our new strategic plan next year, and it feels like a natural time for me to pass the baton to someone else to lead us through that process.
“I am not planning to move to another role immediately as I want to ensure I have the focus and flexibility to work with the Board and our team to support the transition. Then I want to spend some time with my family before taking my next step.
“It’s been an incredible journey and I am enormously proud of what we have achieved at Changing Faces and I’m so grateful to all our community, including our volunteers, campaigners and ambassadors, for their support and commitment. However sad I will be to say goodbye I feel strongly this will be the right decision for the future of the charity and continue the incredible progress we have made.
“People with visible differences have been hard hit by Coronavirus and the needs of our community remain acute. I know Changing Faces will continue to go from strength to strength and work tirelessly to challenge prejudice and discrimination and provide our vital support and services.”
David Clayton, Chair of Trustees: “On behalf of the Board of Trustees of Changing Faces, I would like to thank Becky for the excellent leadership she has given to the charity and wish her all the very best for her next steps. Becky has presided over a significant and successful transition at Changing Faces and when she eventually steps down, she will leave the charity with very firm foundations, a strong and motivated team and an expanded profile amongst our supporters and community. The Trustees will be working closely with Becky on a smooth transition to our new CEO to lead us through the next stage of our journey.”
