Young male model with Vitiligo becomes Primark model and takes the fashion industry by storm

We’ve had an overwhelmingly positive response after posting a story on our social media channels about Primark’s newest male model, a young boy who has vitiligo. Vitiligo is a skin condition which affects the pigmentation of your skin and causes white patches to appear on the face and body.

We are thrilled to see that Primark are working with models with visible differences. Young people often tell us that they never see themselves represented in the media, or in mainstream culture and how this can have a huge impact on their self-esteem. Ensuring that people with visible differences are seen and heard across the fashion industry, in the media and in public life is so important.

The overwhelmingly positive response to this campaign shows that featuring more people with visible differences can help to address the stigma around ‘looking different’ and emphasise that true beauty is about being proud to be yourself.

Primark are setting a brilliant example and we want to see more mainstream brands working with real people of all appearances so that fashion is truly accessible to all. We would love to work with brands on inclusive campaigns that give people with visible differences the opportunity to be part of the fashion world.
