If you have personal experience of disfigurement, your story can be a powerful message that helps us campaign for equality, improve services, and reach more people.
Whether you want to share your story in the media, or just tell it anonymously, we always welcome people sharing their story with us. We have high ethical standards, and don’t put people forward to take part in interviews if we have any doubts about the journalist, newspaper, magazine or television programme – and we turn down around half of all requests from the media for this reason.
On our website
People like Linzie share their stories on our website to show the difference that Changing Faces can make. We can also use stories to show schools, colleges, companies and health providers how they need to improve. These stories are often shared on our social media pages, too.
In a newspaper or magazine, or online
This is a great way to help us get our message out there – just as Phyll and Marcus and his mum did. If we think your story is suitable for a newspaper or magazine article, we’ll talk this through with you first, and talk about the interview process and whether or not you’re happy to have photographs taken. We’ll support you through the interview, checking what’s been written, and make sure you’re happy with what appears.
On television or in film
Our supporters often take part in television programmes and films and, just as with newspapers and magazines, we talk it through with you at length beforehand, to make sure it’s right for you. We’ll work with you and the production company throughout to make sure you’re happy and confident, and then support you when the programme is broadcast.
Your confidentiality and consent are our highest priority, and we will never use or share your story in any way without discussing it with you first to make sure you are happy. And if you decide to go ahead, we will support you at every step of the way. Our professional Press Office is available around the clock to help you and, if you need it, our Support, Information & Advice team are always there to support you.
The first step is to complete the form below. Once submitted, it’s reviewed by our Communications Team, and we will contact you within a few days to talk about your story, and how you want to share it – we certainly won’t publish it or share it without talking to you first. If we think your story might be of interest to the media, we’ll talk to you about the options but the decisions will be yours and we’ll respect and support whatever decision you make.
If you have any questions you’d like answering before completing the form, please email our Communications team on email@example.com
Finally, please remember that Changing Faces only works in the United Kingdom, and so we regret we’re unable to work with people who are overseas.
