At Changing Faces we believe that Black Lives Matter.
We share the deep sadness and anger being expressed across the world about the brutal murder of George Floyd and others who have been so unjustly treated.
We want to publicly express our solidarity and support with everyone impacted by racism and stand with all those speaking out and moving to end discrimination.
We are an organisation with the fight for equality and inclusion at our core. Our staff, volunteers, campaigners and clients will be personally affected by racism. People of colour with visible differences will face deep discrimination because of both their appearance and their race. This is unacceptable.
Over the last week we have started a conversation about what we should be doing at Changing Faces in response. We know we do not always get this right. And we know we could and should be doing more – both internally within our charity and externally within our visible difference community.
Our commitment to you is to listen, learn and work together to make change. To be part of the conversations happening in our sector. To show strong public support for those standing against racism. And to take action about what should be different here.
We would like to thank everyone in our community who has raised this issue already. We welcome thoughts from everyone who wishes to share them as we go forward. We all have a role in bringing about change.
