The Peak District Challenge

Take on one of the UK's most iconic walking and running challenges in the stunning Peak District and raise vital funds for Changing Faces along the way.

Set in the heart of the Peak District and starting from the picturesque village of Hathersage, the Peak District Challenge gives you the chance to push your limits across breath taking moorland, dramatic edges and rolling valleys. Whether you are a seasoned ultra runner or taking on your first big challenge, there’s a distance for everyone.

5 Challenge distances

Copper Challenge (15km over 9 hours ): An achievable challenge, following a circular route from Hathersage to Baslow along riverside paths and back along a hilly route via Curbar and Frogatt edges, and some of the best views in the Peak!

Bronze Challenge (50km in 12 hours ): Taking in the valleys of the dark peak, and the scenic trails of the southern peak district, the Bronze Challenge has a total ascent of 1200m and at its highest point reaches 464m.

Silver Challenge (75km in 24 hours ): 2000m of ascent. Not to be underestimated, this route follows the easiest and flattest routes between eight checkpoints, but covers a long distance. For determined walkers or joggers.

Gold Challenge (100km in 24 hours ): With 3200m of ascent, to make the 24 hour target you’ll need to average 4kph. The ultimate Peak District challenge, and should be attempted by fit and experienced hillwalkers who want to see the best that the Peak District has to offer.

100 Miles in 24 Hours Ultra (24 hour cutoff): The toughest event, suitable for those who’ve already successfully self-navigated 100km runs. You will need to maintain almost 7kph for the entire event to have a chance of completing within the cutoff. There is approximately 5000m of elevation.

There are currently an estimated 1.3m children and adults living with a visible difference in the UK and they face multiple challenges. They are vulnerable to isolation, loneliness, social anxiety and low self-esteem. They face staring, harassment, bullying and hate crime.

Many people with a visible difference face multiple levels of discrimination every day and our survey showed that shockingly, 50% said they felt self-conscious or embarrassed about their visible difference and 49% had experienced hostile behaviour. Read more about the impact on people’s lives.

We’re here to support people affected by visible difference to live the life they choose and free from discrimination. We know it’s possible. The money you raise can make this possible by providing the confidence, support and the opportunity to thousands of people with a visible difference.
