When joining a Changing Faces group session on Zoom or similar platform, we ask that all attendees follow the following guidelines. We have put this together to help everyone feel safe, respected, and comfortable during our time together.
Before the session
- Join from a private space – Find a quiet, private place where you feel comfortable speaking and being seen by others.
- Camera and audio on – This is an interactive session, please join with your camera and microphone on so everyone can connect. Depending on the size of the group we may ask you to mute your microphone.
Respect and confidentiality
- A private space – Everything discussed in this session is confidential. Please do not share others’ stories outside the group.
- Listen to understand – Give others space to finish speaking before responding. Everyone’s experience is valid.
- Kindness and respect – Treat everyone with kindness. We may have different experiences, so approach each other with curiosity, not judgement.
- No recording or screenshots – Do not record, photograph, or screenshot any part of the session.
Taking part
- Speak for yourself – Share your own experiences and feelings using “I” statements. Avoid speaking on behalf of others.
- You choose what to share – There is no pressure to speak or share anything you are not comfortable with. You are in control.
- Use the raise hand feature –Use Zoom’s “raise hand” function to let the facilitator know you’d like to contribute.
- Mute when not speaking – Keep yourself on mute unless you are speaking to reduce background noise for everyone.
Wellbeing
- It’s okay to step away – If you need a moment, feel free to turn off your camera briefly or leave the session. Your wellbeing comes first.
- Support is available – If anything comes up during the session,we are here to help. You can also reach Changing Faces after the session.
