Camouflage creams and powders can significantly reduce the appearance of marks, scars and skin discoloration whilst provide effective, long-lasting, waterproof cover

Before an Appointment

I'm not sure my condition is eligible for skin camouflage, what do you think?

The smallest condition on a barely-seen part of the face or body can have a big impact on someone’s confidence. So no condition is too small or too hidden. If it is bothering you, we can help you.

We are often asked if we camouflage self-harm scars. We will happily camouflage all types of scarring, including self-harm scars.

What we do not camouflage

  • we cannot work on broken, infected and/or inflamed skin
  • we do not camouflage primary genitalia

However we can work on an area of skin around the above areas so that an accurate colour-match is obtained, which you can then use on the area later. You can choose the area of skin for colour-matching, which is the closest colour to the area of skin where your condition is.

I have a condition which occurs on my body, can I have an appointment?

Yes, absolutely.

You can learn how to apply the right shade of camouflage creams and powders to all areas of the body.

If you have a condition in a hard-to-reach place, on your back for example, we recommend that you bring a friend or relative along to the appointment with you, so that they can learn how to apply and remove the camouflage products for you.

Will the Skin Camouflage products cover pock marks and deep acne pits, leaving my skin smooth?

Our Skin Camouflage products are not able to fill indentations or level-out a raised area; they simply cover the area of skin with a colour that matches the surrounding area.

How do I refer to the Skin Camouflage Service?

In most cases, you need to ask your GP or other health professional to submit a referral for you to the Skin Camouflage Service. In certain parts of the country, you can submit a referral yourself, please click here to see where this is possible.

Do you run any clinics in Wales or Northern Ireland?

Unfortunately, Changing Faces is not able to offer clinics in these areas. You may like to consider contacting a private clinic.

Are there private clinics available?

There are a number of private providers of skin camouflage around the UK, where you would have to pay for your appointment and any camouflage products.

Changing Faces provides information on providers but does not endorse any private provider.

Click here explore how to find a private practitioner in your area.

When will I hear about an appointment?

Once an online referral is completed the person who submitted it will receive a confirmation email. Once an appointment becomes available to you, which may be some months later, we will be in contact with you to arrange an appointment.

Unfortunately Changing Faces is unable to prescribe products recommended to you and the prescription must come from a health professional. Please explain that the creams and powders can last several years as generally a little product goes a long way.

Changing Faces is unable to contact your health professional to discuss the reasons for not prescribing, on an individual basis.

If you are not able to obtain products on prescription please visit your pharmacy to ask if they can order the products in so you can purchase them at retail price. Larger pharmacies may be more able to do this.

Alternatively products are available online to purchase at retail price.
