We support people with marks, scars and conditions which affect their appearance, to live the lives they want

Media

We work with the press and media to improve portrayals of visible difference in print, online and broadcast media. We also challenge misrepresentation and prejudice.

This includes work with broadcasters on titling, offering training to newspaper journalists, and filing complaints to regulators when content is sensationalised or deemed offensive to the people we support. Our Media Guidelines are there to help journalists and broadcasters get it right.

Changing Faces can provide expert speakers, information, and guidance on all aspects of disfigurement. We also have a team of Media Volunteers, people with lived experience of disfigurement who can speak about their lives and represent the charity.

If you’d like to share your story of living with a visible difference in the media, you can get in touch here.
