We support children, young people, adults and families throughout Scotland

We support children, young people, adults and families throughout Scotland to build their self-confidence and achieve their life goals.

We promote a culture of confidence, positivity and acceptance around disfigurement. We campaign for face equality in schools and at work while challenging misrepresentation and discrimination.

Services in Scotland

Face Equality in Schools – free workshops for educational establishments

Our Schools Outreach Officers work with staff in the early years, primary school, secondary school and further education settings to ensure they are confident to welcome and include pupils who have a condition, injury or illness which affects appearance. They offer advice on how to talk to all children about disfigurement, and how to incorporate face equality into lessons.

On top of this we deliver workshops to pupils on appearance related bullying and challenging discrimination towards those with a disfigurement.

If you would like us to work with your school, please contact our Outreach Officer via scotland@changingfaces.org.uk or call us on 0345 450 0640.

Face Equality in Work

People with disfigurements should be judged fairly without prejudice or bias, and treated fairly and equally at work, in shops, in restaurants – everywhere. That is why we have created the Face Equality at Work campaign. We work with both employers and people with disfigurements, and the rest of society to enable everyone to face disfigurement with confidence.

Across Scotland we provide advice and consultation services to employers and their employees, including those affected directly or indirectly by a disfigurement. We also offer advice to jobseekers towards creating the right work atmosphere and customer service experience.

Support, Information and Advice

  • find out more about a condition and treatments
  • develop a more optimistic attitude
  • cope with feelings better
  • share experiences and exchange ideas with others
  • confidently handle staring, questions and comments

Sessions can be held over the phone or via Skype and email. For more information, or to access these services, call 0300 012 0275 or send us an email.
