Skin Camouflage Service
We are delighted to welcome on board 31 new volunteers in Scotland, the Skin Camouflage practitioners who transferred from the British Red Cross to Changing Faces. They are delivering regular Skin Camouflage clinics in 12 locations across Scotland, some in hospitals and some in community settings. They bring a wealth of skills and experience with them, and we look forward to developing this service during the coming year and integrating it with other Changing Faces work.

Faces of Scottish Youth
Our group of young people in Scotland, ‘Faces of Scottish Youth’, continues to meet every 3 months. If you know of anyone, aged 13-24, who would like to be involved, please get in touch.

Changing Faces Practitioner
The first Changing Faces Practitioner to work in a hospital setting has been announced, and the post will be based at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh. All thanks to generous funding from the Sick Kids Foundation. Watch this space!

Psychological and social support for burns patients in the NHS
CoBiS, the NHS burn care network in Scotland, has secured funding to appoint someone in a new post for two years to implement training around the Changing Faces resource ‘Psycho-social Rehabilitation in burn care’. The training will be delivered to NHS staff working in burn care across Scotland. This is a major step forward in the efforts of Changing Faces and CoBiS to provide improved support within the health service.

Developing psychological and social support
We continue to work with health and education professionals to improve the psychological and social support available to children, young people and adults within the health service and schools. If you work in health, social services or education and want to know more about our work, please get in touch. We offer information, advice, and training.

School talks
Susan Campbell Duncan, Face Equality Champion, recently delivered talks to students at St Kentigern’s Academy in West Lothian and at Edinburgh Academy. If you know of a school which might like to invite a Changing Faces speaker, please let us know.

Fundraising
The Eurochamps Challenge last year raised £50,000 for Changing Faces. Many thanks to Robin Blacklock and his team.

In October, a team of 13 volunteers abseiled from the Forth Rail Bridge and raised nearly £4000 for our work in Scotland.

Could you raise funds to help the work of Changing Faces Scotland? Please tell us your ideas, and get involved.

Volunteering with Changing Faces Scotland
If you would like to get involved in our work, please get in touch, Volunteers can help out by fundraising, distributing our leaflets and posters, setting up stalls at conferences and community events, doing some admin work, becoming a media volunteer or training as a skin camouflage volunteer.   Or perhaps you have something else to offer?
