Changing Faces is gathering momentum in the north of England. We have a group of people who have come together and are trying to raise awareness, raise funds and promote Face Equality and we need more! This Community of Interest was established in July 2010 and had its first meeting in Lancaster. People from all walks of life were invited and on the day there were nurses, parents, people living with a disfigurement, staff from Job Centre Plus and a life coach.
This first meeting has given rise to lots of activity in the North of England including changes to the training for Job Centre Disability Employment Advisers, changes to the training for nurses who work with skin camouflage, fundraising events and assembly talks to schools.
We are looking for anyone affected by disfigurement whether personally or professionally, to join our community of interest and we need people to join our advisory panel. Please contact Sasha Holden, for more information on how to get involved.
