Former ChildLine Chief Executive joins our charity
She will take up her new role from 13 September, 2010. Changing Faces is the UK`s leading disfigurement charity which supports and represents children and adults who have disfigurements from any cause.
Carole was previously Chief Executive at CLIC Sargent, ChildLine and Cruse Bereavement Care. She said: “Throughout my career I have met children and adults who are subject to bullying and discrimination which focuses on their appearance. They have made me acutely aware of the need to challenge commonly held perceptions and attitudes. Over 1 million people in the UK have some form of disfigurement. It is profoundly shocking that the vast majority of the public predominantly associate negative qualities to people with disfigurements.
It will be a privilege to be working with James Partridge, who set up the charity 18 years ago, and the team at Changing Faces. We aim to enable everyone to face disfigurement with confidence and to ensure that no-one with a disfigurement is subject to discrimination.”
Tony Hobson, Chairman of Trustees at Changing Faces said: “We are delighted to have attracted such an experienced person as Carole to this new role – and are excited at the prospect of having her work with James and the team to drive forward our services, influence and campaigns. “
Carole started her career as a child and family psychotherapist. She has worked for the last 18 years in the voluntary sector and as a consultant and trainer in the UK and overseas.
