Comment A great Idea to be seen as much as possible in the media and one day we may be seen as normal .
Comment congratulations on your great initiative.
all of them sounded great! :-)
Comment I think this is great for those who feel they have problems getting into work because of their situation. This is a good idea for all of us who may have problems finding work.
Why are we even debating this? How backward are we?, I see he's given the lunchtime slot (don't want to offend the busy period's "serious" news time!) Considering there are some rather tediously past their "sell by date" News presenters (most within the dreary BBC) that we are forced to watch and to be informed by, James delivers an excellent professional presentation. A job should be done by one's capibility to do the job, not what you look like... If that was the case the BBC would be advertising for some new News presenters..... News is read to us "dim wits" by usually 2 idiots, a man in a suit (authoritarian image) and a dolly bird dressed like christmas tree in a vest, revealing a heaving cleavage (no wonder her brains her cold!) put men in vests and see what happens or better still Jordan as News Reader, with my TV Licence paying for Two salaries this "Anchorman/woman" American idea is a farce. The News now is an "entertainment", a magazine show, look at BBC Breakfast, the most dreary, square dull unconvincing thing on TV... James does his job better than most presenters, clear, precise, focused and no old woman's cleavage !

I didn't get it, it's just the daily news... ;)
A great initiative, well done Changing Faces!
what a great wayt too bring awareness of this charity other channeis please take note .
Well done James - how brave of you. A brilliant way to raise the profile of the charity
So great an idea! It's utterly praiseworthy and extremely brave. I very much like it and wish it would not be one-off action. In fact, every TV channel should make space for people looking less like regular TV presenters every now and then to make viewers get used to people scarred. It would help avoid situations when a scarred or somehow disfigured person is a head-turner and a reason to comment on in the street. Congratulations on your noble idea and the attempt at educating people and making them more aware of the fact that not only do scarred people exist but that they can appear on TV and present the news just like a regular, pretty TV person would.
Comment James Partridge has a wonderful voice, speaks clearly and presents interesting items. What more could you ask for in a news anchor.
Comment Well done James - it is fantastic that you are bringing this issue to everyones attention. People with facial disfigurements should be in the public eye a great deal more. I have followed your work with Changing Faces for years and so I already knew what you looked like but even if I had never seen you before, i am sure that after two seconds I would have just been interested in the news items you were reading (you did it very well by the way) - keep up the excellent work!
Is there no clip of Wednesday's bulletin? Nonetheless great work guys!
congrats to james and the changing faces team, it's about time something like this was done just a shame it's only an experiment but hopefully it will pave the way for more people with disfigurements to be excepted in society, but also give confidence to others to know that they shouldn't hide away and can achieve anything they want to do.
My very best to Mr. James Partridge, KEEP IT UP!!! XO Eugenia.
Wonderful idea! Just tried to upload today's (tuesday) bulletin onto my facebook and there seems to be an issue with the link. What you get is the general youtube link instead of the specific one for the video. Please kindly fix this if you can!
i see no difference. don't know who had so "great" idea, to show only beautiful persons in tv. in fact that idea is ugly.
That's a great idea!
Well done James, we're proud of you! Keep making a difference....
Comment Can I just say that I think James is a very brave man indeed and I am proud to be his friend! Reading the News is enough to make anyone go and hide in the nearest loo, but even worse for someone who has facial disfigurement and is putting themselves on the front line to change our bigoted attitudes. Well done - good work, good idea - and James tomorrow a few more smiles for your audience please!!xxxxxxxxxxxx
What a wonderful idea, it is unfortunate that we need to do this as a one off experiment rather than it being a part of everyday life. Shouldn't it be the case that whoever is best for the job recieves it, or is it just coincidence that the majoiry of presenters on TV have a look that will "please" the viewers? Well done to the Changing Faces Team and Channel 5
Well done to the Changing Faces team and Channel 5. In a society where a craze for perfection is driving the masses to go under the knife, we need a counter movement to make people face reality and accept themselves and others the way that they are.
Simply wonderful! I hope this paves the way for greater representation of people with disfigurements on mainstream television. Well done James and the Changing Faces team!
I am very pleased to hear that James Partridge will be presenting Five News. It is the best news that I have heard today. I am sure that it will pave the way to a time when people with facial disfigurements will be on television, not because they have facial disfigurements and consequently are the subject of questionably voyeuristic documentaries, but because they are individuals who happen to have the best talents and skills for the job. I wish James and Changing Faces the very best in this endeavour.
I had some plastic surgery which caused severe scaring on my chest. It may have saved my life. It certainly changed my life. I have not been swimingsince 1981. I find the reactions of people in general to people who are not the "Norm" quite upsetting. Downs syndrome and Scared in particular. The big problem is most people dont know how to react. I think that exposure on TV can only help those who suffer from the problem, by that I mean the people who are so called "perfect". The more these people see others accepting peoples scares and imperfections and treating them as normal people which they are under the surface, the sooner people will be fully accepted. As for the abuse by children, this is a matter of Parental example and the parents should be helped to understand the feelings of others. They may then show their offspring how to behave. I would like to see a program where people who have abused those with disfigurement and brought to book are given prosthetic make up and forced to visit public places . THey would then see how unneccessary the comments and attitudes of the great unwashed can be. Bring on more to our screens Simon Weston has been a great cruasader who everyone knows about. Let there be more. Best regards Roger
