Euler’s Circle

New play featuring character with Bell’s Palsy

Euler’s Circle follows the lives of two individuals, Rowena who has Bell ’s Palsy and hides away from the outside world, and the guileless Laura who has  Aspergers Syndrome. Together they begin to unravel the years of difficulty and explore the possibilities of love, and the meaning of having a life.

Director of Euler’s Circle’s, Lavinia Holland, said “We spent months looking for an actor with Bell's Palsy, or a similar facial disfigurement which had developed after birth, but even with a lot of help, including support from Changing Faces and various TV directors, we couldn't find anyone. We have now cast an actor without a disfigurement to play the role of Rowena. For us this raises a really important question - where are all the actors with disfigurements? Over one million children and adults have disfigurements in the UK; that is 1.6% of the total UK population: who is representing them on TV, film and stage? More to the point, why aren't they being trained by UK drama schools to become actors for TV, film and stage?”
