Face Equality curriculum project

Changing Faces needs your school!

In March 2009, Changing Faces secured funding from the (then) Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF is now the Department for Education) to run a two-year curriculum project as part of our Face Equality campaign. The main objective of the project was to devise curriculum resources for Years 8 and 9 which could be shown, through research, to make a difference to the attitudes and behaviours which young people show towards people with disfigurements.

Following the successful completion of the pilot study in two London schools during March and April 2010, it is intended that the main study will run from September – October 2010 in six other schools around England.  Based on our analysis of the pilot, it is now confirmed that we will be running resources in Drama (Year 8) and Art (Year 9), with around 4 hours of lessons in each.

The results from this study will be invaluable in helping us to create the best educational resources possible to help support our campaign and we would be absolutely delighted if your school would consider taking part. Please contact Nikki Boyd, Secondary School Educationalist, below if this is something you are keen to get involved with. We very much look forward to hearing from you.
