Deal with discrimination - if you see it say something

Discrimination against people with disfigurements is hard to prove. So please show your support and look out for the following:

If you notice that a colleague in the workplace is repeatedly being bullied or harassed about the appearance (including “jokes” ), or feels a colleague is not getting the opportunities that they deserve, have a word with the person first and support them in going to their line manager to report it. If it’s the line manager who is the person doing the bullying, again have a word with the person first and then talk to someone in HR or a union representative.

If you notice that child with a disfigurement is being, bullied, left out or if the teacher has lower expectations for that child’s progress, have a word with the relevant teacher or the school management.

In a leisure environment, like a pub, café, sports centre or public swimming pool, if you notice that a person with disfigurement is being offered a lower quality service, offer your support to that person in going to the management to report it.
