Lauren's story

Tell us about yourself

Hi, I’m Lauren and I’m 10 years old.  I live with my Mum and Dad and my older brother and sister.  I have a portwine stain but I like to describe it as a birthmark.

We hear you’re a football fan?

I love football.  I play for my school girls team and I support Wigan Athletic.  I also love drawing and reading detective stories.

Best Christmas pressie?

A season ticket for Wigan Athletic and my new laptop.

If you could eat anything?

Definitely sausages and mash.

What’s your worst habit?

My Mum thinks I’m untidy.

Who’s your favourite singer?

Michael Jackson!

Favourite subject at school?

Art.

What do you find hard about having a birthmark?

People asking me questions.  I just want to get on with my life.  It helps if my friends are around if people do ask me a question.

Why did you get involved in the campaign?

I was lucky to be chosen.  I hope it will give other children with similar differences the confidence to stand out.

What’s been the best thing about being involved in the campaign so far?

Drawing with Emily and meeting the other children.

How could people show their support for the campaign?

They could join the campaign by uploading their own face on to the beautiful collage of faces.
