Advice, information and
support for families

Changing Faces' Children and Young People’s Service has lots of experience in supporting children, young people and their families.

If you would like to speak to someone about your child, contact us on 020 7391 9282 or email support@changingfaces.org.uk. We accept calls between 10am – 4pm, Monday to Friday and messages can be left if we’re not available.

We offer:

Advice, emotional and practical support to help you and your child

  • Respond effectively if people stare, ask questions or make comments at the supermarket, in the park or at school and help your child to respond

  • Increase your child’s self-confidence and self-esteem

  • Talk about looking ‘different’ with your child and family

  • Manage your own and your child's feelings about their appearance

  • Prepare everyone in the family for hospital and treatments.

Information and resources

Our Guides for Parents enable you to develop your skills at each stage of your child’s development. You can also encourage your child’s school to purchase or download our comprehensive Teachers’ Guides.

Other self-help booklets and story books are also available.

Skin camouflage service

Children and young people may find that skin camouflage is an important tool for feeling confident about their appearance.  Find out more about our skin camouflage service.

Young People’s Council

Changing Faces’ Young People's Council (for 13-25 yr olds) meets 4 times a year and exists to:

  • Provide a voice for young people to help others understand their experience

  • Help Changing Faces develop services for children and young people

  • Enable young people to have a greater role in the organisation.

Recent achievements include taking part in media interviews and documentaries, campaigning, developing the iface website and sitting on expert panels.

Work with schools across the UK

We can offer support, information and advice to families and school staff on handling social and emotional challenges related to looking ‘different’ and applying effective approaches to inclusion, appearance concerns and bullying.
