Meeting someone
special

Intimacy and relationships are an important issue for people who have disfiguring conditions as many people struggle to believe that they will find a partner or be able to have a successful relationship.

If you would like to increase your confidence and learn some new skills for handling intimacy and relationships, Changing Faces can help in a number of ways:

  • We offer advice as well as practical and emotional support
  • We run an Intimacy Workshop at least once a year where a small group of men and women can explore some of the more common concerns around intimacy and relationships. Through sharing experiences and working with the facilitators, you can learn how to manage your fears and develop strategies for meeting someone you like, talking about your disfigurement and preparing for intimacy
  • You can also download a copy of our practical and sensitive guide to intimacy and relationships. This guide explores what is really going on behind the scenes for two people when one of you has a disfigurement. It also includes some suggestions about how to approach people you like and handle your fears about the physical side of intimacy.
