Intimacy and relationships are an important issue for people who have disfigurements as many people struggle to believe that they will find a partner or be able to have a successful relationship.
If you would like to increase your confidence and learn some new skills for handling intimacy and relationships when you have a disfigurement, Changing Faces can help in a number of ways:
- We can offer advice and counselling
- We run an Intimacy Workshop at least once a year where a small group of men and women can explore some of the more common concerns around intimacy and relationships. Through sharing experiences and working with the facilitators, many adults have learned how to manage their fears and have developed strategies for meeting someone they like, talking about their disfigurement and preparing for intimacy
- You can also download a copy of our practical and sensitive guide to intimacy and relationships. This guide explores what is really going on behind the scenes for two people when one of them has a disfigurement. It also includes some suggestions about how to approach people you like and handle your fears about the physical side of intimacy.
