Supporting a child or young
person with a disfigurement

If you are an education professional working with a child or young person with a disfigurement, you will want to ensure your pupil or student develops the confidence and self-esteem to enable them to thrive.

Our teacher's guides to supporting a child with a disfigurement enable you to handle other children's responses, work with the family and health professionals and deal with teasing or bullying. These encourage the development of good social skills, positive self-perception and high self-esteem.

If you would like further advice about supporting a pupil or student with a disfigurement please contact our Schools Specialists on schools@changingfaces.org.uk.

If you are supporting a 16+ student we hope the following will be helpful:

Preparing for college, training or work

You at work

Workshops and group events

Young people, aged 11-21, can use iface to share their experiences.

For additional help and advice we offer tailored and in-house CPD and consultancy. For more information please click here.
